Monastery garden

The monastery garden is a beautiful sight.

Utstein Monastery is surrounded by a magnificent garden. If the large beautiful trees could talk, they could tell a story about a French vessel that was wrecked near Bokn 250 years ago. It was on its way to St. Petersburg, loaded with beech trees to be planted in a park. The trees were salvaged and planted in the monastery garden, where they now beautify both the garden and the monastery. A lovely sight for all visitors, they make the garden intimate and pleasant for grilling, cocktails, theatre productions, games and other forms of recreation.

Sea and sky in generous measure make deep thinking easier, also for those of us who haven’t joined a religious order.

The monastery garden is open to the public year-round and well-suited for taking photos.
